The Carbohydrate Research Award for Creativity in Carbohydrate Chemistry was established in 2001 by the Editors and the Publisher of Carbohydrate Research.

The Carbohydrate Research Award is presented to a carbohydrate scientist who has made significant original contributions to the field, in its broadest sense. The award consists of a cheque for US$ 1,000, a certificate and a complimentary subscription to Carbohydrate Research for two years.
